adding light for back seat

my girlfriend has a four door cobalt and i have been trying to figure out how to add lighting to the back seats. the back seats have no light at all when the back doors are opened up. can i just install an aftermarket dome light behind the front seats? has anyone attempted to fix this problem? what can i do?

you will need to tie into the existing dome to make it work with the door opening and closing, as for mounting an aftermarket dome light will work just remember that you will need to cut a hole in the headliner for it, use a razor blade knife for that and make sure you measure out the mounting to make it square and centered.
