trunk ajar light on

i just started my car to come home from a friends house and went into the trunk and put somethings in then got in the car and started it and the trunk ajar light came on got out of the car to see if the trunk was open but it was close pressed the button in the dash to open it then close it and it still said it was open? so do i have an electrical problem or what????

Sounds like the latch switch is bad.
Is your trunk light also on?

the next day the stupid ajar light is off but i also tinted my taillights so their could have been water that got into the trunk but I'm gonna keep it in mind if the ajar message comes on im gonna get the latch switch checked.
