Default SS Muffler on LT?

So walking out of my friends house, a man said "Hey bud!" basically he has a muffler from GM Performance that ran for $150 and was used for 10 days and he offered me $30 for it because he traded his SS for a family hatcback due to I believe new child.

Question: Can I put an SS muffler on a '09 LT model?

So I take it the pipe diameter isn't any different between the SS and the LT? The guy told me it was a performance muffler, aka less restrictive, and will probably sound better (Think this is true?). Also it was just the muffler with the two pipe holes, so could I keep the little stock piping even up to the tip? I was kinda hoping for a bit more hum to my car. Adding a cold air intake real soon, getting a deal on one.

Even if the sizes are different you can weld up a small piece of re size piping to connect the 2. My old muffler was connected to my stock LS piping that way.

Ok. Yes you can get the SS muffler welded in. Yes the exhaust piping between the 2.2 and SS is different. My question is why would you waste money on just the muffler? You'll spend $30 of the muffler, and it will cost you somewhere around $60 to $70 to get it welded in. On top of that you will see virtually no gain from it at all. Also you probably won't even hear any tone change being that its not that much of a change.

If I were you I'd save your money but a catback exhaust. There are a few cheaper ones out there that are pretty good Tsudo is one of them, and runs about 200 to 250 shipped. You can also search around on this forum and others and find some one that is selling a used catback exhaust, or even selling their old stock SS catback. If you want more of a gain you can look for an LSJ downpipe.

But thats just my opinion.

If you're gonna get a cat back exhaust just go to a local muffler shop ask them how much they will do it for they should have the pipes in stock. I got my cat back for $75 installed and if I ever want something welded all I have to do is go to the same or another shop it'll cost me $15. All you gotta do is have patience and shop around.

This is true too. You can go to a local shop and have them custom make one. I've never heard of shop doing it for $70. With that in mind, you could hit ebay or stop by autozone/pepboys and pick up a megan racing/borla/N1/DC Sports muffler for relitivly cheap, and have that put in there.

I don't mean to get off track on this guys thread - white balt can you post a video of your car with the exhaust... I've been thinking of getting a DC Sports 2.5in inlet to 4in tip muffler, and having my buddys shop just build my exhaust with no resonators.

But yeah ill have the video up today.
Are you na?
