Smile help me decide on an engine

I am finally wanting to fix up my cobalt ls 2.2. My engine has 80,000 miles on it its a 2006. I want a new engine but finding the right one is hard. I Don want it too fast but I want enough to make do. Right now it goes zero to 60 in like 9 seconds. I want it to be like 5 or 6 seconds. I'm gonna get the engine before anything. I'm thing about getting an ss engine but still not sure if want something bigger. I thought about getting a whole new car but I like the way my . Door cobalt looks lowered with rims. I'm not that big of a car genius so anything would help. I just don't think this ecotec engine will modify into anything great. Any help deciding would be awesome thanks guys

dude just buy a new car, it's gonna be less hassle. or just buy accompanying parts to FI and rebuild the internals

best to get a new car.. it'll cost you more to put an engine in then to buy a new car.

whoa yea good call. didn't see that quote haha.

dude imo, i know enough about cars to be able to fix my own if nearly anything goes wrong. i've been around mechanics all my life and have been working on my balt since i bought it in september, and also my cavi and corsica before that. replaced a few head gaskets and (very limited) helped rebuild the internals of that cavalier. but even i wouldn't be able to do this without the help of a certified mechanic. i respect anyone else who has a balt, and anyone who has the ambition to work on their own car, but i think you should REALLY save yourself the headache, downtime and possible destruction of your car.
