Default muffler and wheels AND check engine light

Hello everyone, new to the forums this is my first post. First of all I have a 07 stock Ls. Recently my check engine light came on and the coolant guage reads --- . I read that most the time that means the thermostat is stuck open, but when I first start the car it shows the temp then eventually goes back to ---. Does that still sound like the thermostat?
Then after that I have my eye on a dual tip ebay muffler says its a straight through design, would this be loud or any ideas on the sound? I understand the you get what you pay for and this will be temporary. just want something on there. Also where did you get your wheels??? Size and price and site please.

Thank you!

What's the CEL code? Willing to bet your coolant temperature sensor either took a crap or the wiring is messed up.

i bet its the sensor . when your dash reads ---- tho can you hear your fan kick on ? as far as my rims i got off craigslist for $200 from some crackheads lol . i dont even know what kind they are . i stayed with the 16" that was on my car . but you can go up if you want you just have to make sure the lug size is right . i think 18" is the biggest you can go before getting spacers and cutting shit

Yes I do hear my fans kick on. It never over heats everything runs and sounds fine. I believe my stock size is 15" which I will stick with the stock size. Do you happen to know the lug size for the Balt ls?

Well mine are 4x100, I've been looking at some rims around my local shops. As long as the rims are 15" my tires should still fit right? I know on my motorcycle I have gone up and down on tire sizes , so is it the same as long as they are 15" 4x100? I've been seeing like 15x.7 and stuff. Just a little confused.

Read some of this tech material: Wheel Tech at Tire Rack

You can also use that to find out what rims fit your car. 4x100 is the most common 4 bolt pattern so there's a huge selection.
