Default My 2.4's short story (LOTS OF PICS)

Those of you on cobaltss.net probably have seen me post on there (cordiadohc) but figured id come over here and look around.

(I just stole this from the other board and merged all the posts into one)

Ok well im bored and felt like robbing my story off of the cobalt board and putting it on here.
So....

I traded my Supra and Cordia after problems with the speed shop that was working on the cordia and the engine in the supra letting go. I traded both of them and got 690 for each car on trade. I decided to get the cobalt to get out of modifying cars for a while and figured a cobalt would be a good car because id never want to modify it........ So I will let the pics tell the rest of the story
What I traded for the Cobalt

Kept the eclipse

When I first brought her home.

ZZP midlength header

ZZP midlength DP next to the LE5 auto dp (it had to come off manual zzp pipes will not fit auto 2.4s.)

LNF 160mph cluster

Moog FE5 sway bar endlinks next to the stock FE3 endlinks. Steering response feels a bit sharper and more responsive.

Eibach Pro kit springs (rear) Next to stock FE3 rear (FE3 is the same as FE5 rear)

Eibach Pro kit springs (front) Next to stock FE3 front (FE3 fronts appear to be their own but must be closer to LSJ FE5's)

Before springs

After springs no real difference in ride height. the factory rear rake is a bit less. Ride quality on most surfaces is near stock. When its rougher you can tell it has different springs in it. Cornering is a lot flatter.

09 SS/TC (LNF) wheels with Kumho 235/40/18 spt tires (they were 78 bux a pop from tirerack!)

Few new pics of the car with a quick wash and the new wheels....

heres a few more pics. Since my families car was here figured id get a kinda sorta before and after pic.

Both cars were identical to each other. Even purchased the same day.
Figured this is a good way to show the difference in the springs wheels tires headlights and tint.

And man am I so glad to be off of those SS/NA wheels!!! I didnt really realize it until this pic
SLP Loudmouth II catback

Few new pics.

One from the local cobalt meet (new forum small turnout)

Got tired of the rust marks on my calipers and them looking dirty so just gave up and sanded and painted them. Still thinking of repainting them black though...

Another small update Cobalt SS/TC seats!

Thanks for looking and feel free to give your opinions about the car. The idea was to do subtle mods as I dont like mods that stand out. But mods that just make it look cleaner.

Next mods on the list for next month?
SS/TC grill
zzp 2.5 catted downpipe
HP tune

I had a manual zzp catted 3 inch downpipe for the midlength and it rubbed on the front swaybar. It also pulled the whole exhaust inward. Enough so that my exhaust tip was almost behind the rear bumper. Auto downpipes are slightly longer and angled a bit differently. So at least with zzp you need to make sure its an auto downpipe (though a 2.5 may clear but it would still be close).

Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car. Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall, torque is how far you take the wall with you. Hope this helps!

I bought it for 300. Put a used motor in it for another 200. Got 10,000 miles out of it. Sold parts off of it for 900 and traded it for 690. So I think I did pretty good the RL wheels I paid 70 bux for with 8 tires and sold them for 300 without the tires.

Thanks and the SS/TC parts really do make the 2.4 feel like a much sportier car! I actually got the ss/tc seats as a straight swap!

Couldve but wouldnt of felt right about it. It had a lot of mud (filler) in the drivers side 1/4. And was tweaked enough that when you floored it the car wanted to change lanes. There was just too many problems with it and I made my money back and then some so I was fine with it.
