The one where they chop the snorkel and make it shorter? Why not just remove it completely?

That's what I did for now just removed the bottom peice but the point is to prevent taking in hot engine bay air so u gotta run the peice to the fender. It is winter so I don't care about extra heat on the intake, it dun matter till summer but sometime over winter I will finish it.

Because it won't be as effective without the snorkel. It create a velocity stack and smooths out the air coming in

will running without the snorkel affect my MPG in the short term?

Not sure but I don't think anything noticeable. the fuel trims will be more off though I believe
