Deciding on getting this camera. Any tips?

So I want to get a nice SLR camera and was thinking about getting this.

I really like Cannon and prefer Cannon over Nikon. Does anybody have this camera or another SLR camera that they like from a different Company that they like and have any input?

I have the canon rebel xs:

I have had it for 1 year, the pictures are amazing in manual mode. auto mode is still good, but I recommend learning manual mode for best results. I do this as a hobby, but would like to take the next step. feel free to ask me any question I am quite knowledgeable on this subject

Well I bought it today. I just bought the XS not the XSI.

I got the package deal that comes with the extra lens.

Who'd you buy it from? XS is a good camera, but you should have made the jump to the T1i... much better camera, all around... and its got video.

I was sord of on a mind budget. I didn't want to spend more than a 1,000.
