Default New Cobalt owner

Figured id introduce myself and the new ride.. Now im no stranger to cars or to modifying them but i never got into gm's in general till now. So for the most part this car will be a new learning experience for me. So far from what ive been reading everything should be pretty straightforward for me.

Now the car is my wifes and most of everything that will get done to it is coming from her. Anyways the car is an 09 Cobalt 2LT 4 door in white. has 34k on it and has 5x110 wheels, cruise, tilt, keyless, 4 wheel abs, traction control, 2.2 Lap motor, auto trans.

Now so far already we have picked up a few goodies to put into the car and are currently working on other parts. What we have so far to install on it are an ss/sc cat back exhaust, ss/sc front calipers, ss/sc rotors, ss/sc rear axle beam complete with disc brakes, ebrake cables/ect, ss gauge face overlay, led dome lights, led trunk light, led license plate lights, 6 k hid kit(temp till i build her retrofits), 2 ss head lights that are being retro fitted with fx35 bi-xenon projectors, ss front bumper, g5 gt spoiler.

We are planning to put the full ss lip kit on the car along with ss/tc 18" wheels to complete the outside look. Inside will be close to stock with just tint, remote start, and some audio goodies. Suspension we plan to drop it on ssc or pedders springs and add a f&r sway bar set. down the long road will be coilovers. Engine will be left alone other then ss/sc catback, k&n intake setup and color matching with polished letters valve cover. Should make a nice little daily for her that she(& I) can be proud of.

Right now only few questions i have on the car are, with adding the rear discs and ss fronts do i need the ss master cylinder? I know with my 98 neon when i do rear discs you need the master cylinder. next the car has traction control but no switch to turn it off. Am i able to add the traction control off switch from the new ss/tc's or other gm vehicles to the car to be able to turn it off?

And lastly just to give you guys an idea of what ive done in the past here are a few of our cars we have had and i built.

Hopefully ill meet some good ppl along the way on this site and other cobalt forums. Gain some knowledge and be able to share it as well like i have in the past on my other forums.

Her taurus that we parted out to stock and traded in for the Cobalt

My Gti/Jti that i parted out to stock and sold

My Ranger I parted out to stock and sold (for the gti)

My Current dd. 98 neon Coupe with 2.4 swap, 3.94 trans(mods in sign)

NOW onto the Cobalt (day we brought it home)

Led dome and trunk lights

Few of the ss parts at a buddies house. scored everything here plus the 2 headlights and ss gauge cluster from a local u pull it yard for $140.

asked around couple guys say your current master cylinders should be fine...however if it doesnt cost very much on the safe side you could pick them up and if you dont use them sell em

yeah for 13.50 ill grab the master cylinder to be safe.. lol.. just in case

abs should still work no problems also correct? her car has 4 wheel abs. dont need that messing up.

reason i ask is i know from my neon things like the car having 4discs, abs, disc/drums ect all matters as to which master cylinder and or proportioning valve you need

im asking a specialist lol...i dont know how the abs in an 09 correlates to the lsj which no longer was made after 07...the abs may not be compatible...might have to use abs from an LNF as it was made 08-10 which includes the year your car is made...he isnt 100% waiting on Maven's input.

problem on the traction control. its tied into a complex computer system...BCM i beleive.

---------- Post added at 04:56 AM ---------- Previous post was at 04:53 AM ----------

here is what John Powell said, he was on the design team for the time attack cobalt...(he knows everything delta platform)

100% it will not work the tooth count of the wheelspeed sensors in the wheel bearings wont do it. there is a way but it takes some dough to do it...
because of the year

ok the rear axle when i grabbed it i grabbed the sensors and all. and for the front the sensor should be getting its source from the axle/hub area which i wont be modifying. its just will the abs pump be able to react correctly to the larger brakes and having added rear discs.

now the traction control. is there a way to pin into the bcm or rewire, program? the bcm to allow me to do something with it?
