Default How Do You Park with a Stick Shift?

Do you leave the car in gear? Or just leave it in neutral and pull the handbrake?
Or do you leave it in gear and pull the handbrake?

you are supposed to park either in reverse or first depending if the car is facing up or down a hill with the parking brake on.

but, I just park in neutral with parking brake on.

What if the car is parked uphill? You put it in first?

yes, i believe it's the gear opposite. It causes more "drag" in the trans to hold the car in the event brake fails. but parking on a flat surface even a crappy parking brake will hold. if you want more technical i can explain further.

Actually yeah, if you don't mind.

In my parking lot of my apartments is pretty much flat so I wanted to get in the habit of leaving it in gear. Because I hate when I'm on a slant and put my car in gear and I always forget and the car stalls out on me when I start it. lol

So would it hurt if I always leave it in gear?

I just leave it in gear, but if I'm on an incline, in gear and Ebrake.
