Low Coolant

When it comes on my guage and pops up and says: "Low Coolant", what coolant is it speaking of?

If my gauge was broken in someway, how would I check to see if it's low? Just by eye?

Overflow tank, its the only fill spot for your coolant. Its only marked with a cold line so check it cold.

I remember a long time ago I checked a warm one and it still had a lot of pressure.

What coolant do you guys use? Do you all mix a certain ratio of water and coolant? Like 50/50?
