side view mirrors

i was looking at my sideview mirrors a little close one day and noticed that they dont have the same shape... does anyone else know that the drivers side and pass side mirrors are actually different shapes?? ok its slite but i have a 08 cobalt and said wow thats strange the mirrors dont match exactly..ok so as a few days went by i started noticing other cobalts that i would pass or see and they were the same... same as in diferent..if you look close you will see that the pass side mirror is more of a rounded outter edge shape..now look at the drivers and it is more of a outter pointed edge...ok my eyes have been checked and are fine but has anyone else ever noticed this...why would the mirrors be diferent shape on same car...was this on purpose or a factory mess up..does anyone know...thnks for any info...

Just checked mine and I think I see what your talking about. The driver side mirror has a more gradual radius than the passenger side. My guess is that this has something to do with the field of view for each mirror. Perhaps the passenger mirror is longer and more pointed so there's a wider field of view for changing lanes? Who knows...there must be some logic behind it though i'm sure.
