Default Temp readout

Ok folks don't know if this is in other sections but I have a problem with a 2007 2.2 litre I think.

The a/c one day didn't work, the compressor did not click on for a while, no check engine light. I ran through the readout options until I came to the temp setting, it was blank with dashes in the middle. However, my scanner said the temp was 170 or so. I watched and watched once the temp hit 180 the read out in the car was 180 and climed to about 195 and started to cycle back down to 180. A/c started to work again.

This has happend a couple times can't narrow down anything as far as how or why. I was thinking the temp sensor but my scanner still shows a temp all the time.

Anyone ever have this?

I am a Mopar guy, this is my daughters car. Please help with a post if you might be able to help. She is away at college and I only get limited time to work on it.

Thanks,
Rick
