hey guys,

i'm a shop mechanic and I've got one customer who we've put a timing kit in his 2.2 twice. The first 2 times were because he decided 15000 mile oil changes were a good idea. This last time, we stuck a used motor in it. It's back. His oil is full and recently changed, so he's learning. But it still snapped a chain. The used motor was a junkyard rebuild. Its my understanding that the cobalts don't oil well at idle. Is there some bullet proofing procedure we can do so that we don't have to look at this thing again? My thoughts were timing set and high volume oil pump. Any input is appreciated. Yes i searched.

Theres an updated cam chain tensioner on 2009 up cobalts which is hydraulic not spring loaded. I put one in my 07, uses 32mm socket. It is larger diameter

It's not the pump that's the problem. It's the hole that were the oil goes through that isn't big enough. You can drill it bigger and that will solve it
