car has just over 100000 miles and sometimes it uses a lot of oil . no external leaks no smoke , nothing in coolant or transmission. I am talking 15 qts in3 months time less than 5000 miles.

I hear you. My daughter's 2007 Cobalt (about 180,000 miles) eats oil too. It doesn't smoke, runs great and there is never any oil under it after parking in the garage. I think she is adding a quart every 400 miles or so. Where is it going?

My wifes 2009 Cobalt doesn't use a drop and it has over 200,000 miles.

2006 - 190k here. I check oil every 500mile; roughly add a quart every 1000 miles. I drive 2k a month so maybe 5-6 quarts in my case. 15 quarts in 3 months seems excessive. I had a dealer not attach the upper intake manifold to throttle body properly burned a ton of oil before I found it.

I would think that a loose intake at the manifold would throw all kinds of codes for a vacuum leak.
