Good evening first post here and hopefully I'll be around a while.

I just recently purchased 2008 Cobalt LS with the manual trans, it wasn't running when I bought it and I was told it had 215,000 miles and turned over. Radiator had gotten hit this last winter and was replaced. Over all the body has some marks and dings and a cracked windshield but decent tires and appeared to be OK. So I rolled the dice hoping it was something simple.

Get it home and get the battery charged and low and behold its got 245,XXX miles. Turned over and was getting fuel and spark but seemed to be no compression. Grabbed the compression tester and well the best I got was 20 PSI on one cylinder. Not to happy at that point so I pulled the valve cover and there I am greeted with a loose timing chain. Yay.

So my question is do I just say screw the current motor and get a used one? Or is rebuilding the current one going to give me another couple years out of it?

Thanks in advance.
