Timing jumped?
When the timing chain fails or skips, the pistons collide with the valves. I believe they usually impact valves before they come high enough to hit the spark plug. Because of the way it happened I'm not inclined to blame the timing chain. Sounds more like a connecting rod which has broken...- munron

I believe you can call up any Chevy dealership with your vin and they can tell you everything that your car came equipped with. An awful lot of these cars are now sitting in auto wrecking yards. Finding a suitable used transmission should not be that hard. They're not expensive to ship so... -

front end shudder

TDC and broken Timing Chain
I know this isn't what you asked, but don't forget the LSJ is NOT a non interfering engine. That means when the chain fails the valves and pistons collide. If the engine was running at any sort of speed when it failed you likely have valve and possible piston damage. Inspect all that... -

Mysterious Headlight
I'm convinced its a bad bulb issue. Go to the auto parts store. Buy a brand new one, even if its just a cheap one. Take home carefully. Install it carefully. I'm sure your problem will go away. There's really nothing else in there to go bad. I went through the same thing with my Cobalt...- munron

Mysterious Headlight
Did you try a new bulb? Or try swapping the bulbs you have side for side and see if the problem changes sides as well? I'm pretty sure that's all it is. Happens all the time with halogen bulbs.- munron

blower not working
I am having similar problems with my '06. I've got the two low settings working fine, but 3 and high don't work. Form what I understand if it is the resistor I should have the opposite, losing speeds gradually from one and always having the high speed even when the resistor is disconnected...- munron
