Hello new to the forum. Just bought a 05 orange cobalt lt the other day. The headlights are fogged up is that normal for stock lights, i can post a picture but easily describable. My thing is I am either going to buy ebay projectors and HID, or HID on a stock retrofit.

1) Should I buy stock headlights from a junkyard?

2) If I do buy clearer ones, should i crack mine and do the black base ones?

3) If I do paint mine and seal them will they fog up again?
to look like these
05 06 07 CHEVY COBALT OE STYLE BLACK HEAD LIGHTS LS SS - eBay (item 130469903848 end time Jan-28-11 15:55:06 PST)

4) If I redo my headlights will the 9005 bi-xenon HID conversion work and look good with stock lights?

5) Or should I buy cheap projectors from ebay and do a HID conversion
only projectors I do like, since LED just scream cheap looking.
05 06 07 08 COBALT CCFL HALO PROJECTOR HEAD LIGHTS G2 ! - eBay (item 400182958168 end time Jan-21-11 16:52:04 PST)

6) Has anyone used the headlights from the link above and where they good at all?

sorry for being long just figuring out if i should stay with stock or is doing the high low beam conversion easy enough. Mainly I like the stock look with a black base, and i would like HID if possible on stock headlights, I know i will need to aim them down a little... Will likely be a spring break project.

You could if you wanted or if the ones you have now are really messed up. Examples would be if the housing is cracked, cracked lenses, etc.

If you want to have black stockers, just take yours apart and clean them well if there is nothing major wrong with them.
3) If I do paint mine and seal them will they fog up again?

As long as you seal them well, they will not fog up[/B]

I thought our lights were 9007. If its stock housings your talking about it would look good, but would be a lot of glare to oncoming traffic

If you bought these, you would have to seal them because they will fog up coming from ebay. Lenses from there could get stress cracks after awhile also, but that takes awhile. They are very nice lights though. You want the ccfl ones. I would definitely get them if I had money for them. I bought blacked out stockers from ebay and am changing the housing and lenses to oem cause I feel they helped contribute to the fog.

If you are talking about the projectors, then yes like I stated in the last question. CCFL are the way to go. If you did get the leds one, I've seen where they go out rather quick.

Hope I helped somewhat

I think they are 9007. was looking at the conversions last night at 4am so numbers are a little plured..I do like the stock ones just black would be nice...ok so going with used from junk yard tell i can crack mine open and paint then get a 9007 bi-xenon kit.

If i go that route *i found some on HIDnation that came with a canceller cable and relay just so i dont blow any fuse or wiring harness.

Is there any way to stop from the glaring on stock lights with HID like spraying half of the chrome light housing or anything.. I would only do the 6k HID

Not that I know of. The only way I would think to do if you don't want glare would be to do retrofits. Its cost a lot though. The projectors can do HID with no glare, I think. And with the projectors I think its plug and play. They use different bulbs though.

yeah i haven't looked at the wiring harness but i do not want to make my own low high beam seperate. I have been reading if i aim my lights down i should be fine doing a 9007 and stock housing. Since glare i get blinded by jacked up trucks and suvs with HID in them they blind everyone that should be illegal.

I think i will just get the conversion in a week or two and plug them in and see what happens for glare. then go and do my rebuild on a stock housing
