Hey guys I was wondering if anyone could help out with the above problem. My car smells of gas really bad. Its really bad the back, on the side of the gas tank opening. I can also smell it up in the engine area after I turn the key to ON....I was thinking it was something related to the Fuel to Air ratio but not sure on the tech lingo for that, and or what it is exactly.

Uh....is it a burned fuel smell or raw fuel smell?
Lawn mower would be a 2-stroke burned smell since its burning oil as well as fuel.
Try this, on the weekend after your car has been sitting an extended period of time do you smell fuel? if yes wait longer, we want to be smelling almost no fuel before you begin the next part.
If you turn the key to on do you smell fuel now? if yes where?
Turn the key off for 1-2 sec then back on, does the smell get worse? Location?
Turn the key off and look at the location the fuel smell is strongest, do you see any wet spots? Have someone else turn the key to the one position, can you see where the fuel is coming from?
In doing the preceding steps you assume all risk inherit with handling fuel including getting it in your eyes, may want to wear goggles for the last couple steps. Do so at your own risk.

Well I did not smell or notice earlier today after sitting overnight. I smell it when I turn the key ON...just where it engages all electronics-probably fuel pump to, at that point in time, I smell it the strongest from the front. I notice when the car is on and running, I can smell it from the rear, but my wife says its still stronger from the front. Which I cant disagree with.....I drive my car 15-500 miles a day for work, and I get in and out of it a lot...i leave it running most of the day so that way I can avoid a huge wiff of gas 
everytime I start it.

Now that I am thinking bout the car more.....I am guessing this might add some to the Diagnosis.....for about a week or two now...mostly this week tho, but the car has been having troubles starting. When I first got it, oh beginning of last month all i i had to was simply flick my key and boom it was on, now I I have turn and hold, on it, and it usually takes two times....the first time is almost a fail most times.......F****

If your smelling it right away it sounds like it could be a serious leak and could be a huge fire hazard depending on where it's leaking.
Also if it's hard to start after sitting it's not holding the pressure in the lines.
Like Yello said check under the hood and under the car while someone turns the key to the on position but don't start it.
If your smelling it that strong you should be able to see it.

Check it I shall then......maybe call the stealership up and tell them about it....maybe they could fix for nada.....probly not tho...

Quick Note....if it was leaking somewhere, shouldnt I see it on the ground?.....I dont so that why I ask.

Not necessary because if it's leaking near like the fuel rail of the lines in the engine bay it could possibly evaporate before it gets that far.
I see now......well....I think I should call the dealer to see if thats covered under my warranty.

usually the fuel pump on the tank and usually a gasket. also see if you have a leak in a line where it got hit
