I run Mobil 1 Synthetic, RP handles heat cycling poorly and breaks down quicker. Read an independent study on it somewhere, Cobalt Tom can fill you in a bit more.

This looks interesting, done 4 years ago. http://my.prostreetonline.com/t2540.htm

from my knowledge, royal purple does claim all that stuff bout hp and mpg's but if you look at it, it is really worth the price. you can run royal purple twice(if not a little more) the miles than you could on regular old motor oil. the same thing goes for amsoil. they are truly designed for long distance drivers. the main people who use these two types of oils are highway patrol. it would be a pain in the ass for them to change their oil every 3k miles. from my experience, if you decide to run it, be sure to drain all the old oil out. if your gonna make the swap you might as well do it right.

oh and i run wix filters all the way

they don't even sell amsoil at my autozone, went with castrol gtx for high mileage cars on mine, supposed to help clean out sludge

amsoil usually isnt sold through a local parts store..I get mine from a local amsoil dealer. I do have the option of purchasing a dealer license from them and then reselling it (such as to you guys) but shipping would get spendy...
worth it though!

any top shelf synthetic oil can run safely up to 7k miles and even stretched to 11k miles

and contrary to popular belief, you can mix synthetic with conventional oil.
