i think we talked about this a while ago, but lately when i accelerate it seems like the grumbling noise is more constant now than before. Id like to address the issue before it becomes to late but chevy dealer here is ridiculous with prices even for a diagnostics test.... if i can fix it myself or have my normal mechanic do so id rather go that route... any idea what the noise is? im regular with my oil changes and all that... doesnt seem like my power steering is messing up or nothing but the sound is similar to a power steering pump when its low on fluid, but again ive checked all my fluids... HEEEELLLP! lol

Model, Engine, trans, and miles.

And codes? Best thing is to have a Tech 2 hooked up to it. If you have under 36000 miles its under power-train still (if its a cobalt). IMHO though, you might have to take it to the dealership. You will spend less money just going straight there then you would taking it places that don't know what to do, and bringing to the dealership in the end.

And is it just a noise, or is there a drivability concern along with the noise?

Could not find old thread, please describe in detail exactly what you hear, where and when(rpm, speed, turning, braking). How many miles are on the vehicle? What year is it? Any recalls performed? Some years have 100k mi powertrain warranty others have less.

You say the noise is similar to a power steering pump when it is low on fluid. So mechanical pump, powersteering is electric so there is only 2 mechanical pumps on the cobalt and that's the water pump and oil pump.
