Newbie questions!

Just picked up an 06 cobalt with the 2.2L. I'm brand new to these cars so I was just wondering what you guys do to these cars for performace? I was going to do a simple tune up(plugs,filters etc) and maybe a K&N Intake? I was thinking about exhaust but not sure the price of a catback is worth it for the performance i'd gain. anything else you guys reccomend? Thanks!!

get a tune. something quick and easy is trifecta performance. my friend with a 2.2 loved the diff. down the rd you can look at putting a s.c kit on it. headers all sorts of stuff really. o and welcome to the fourm

Catback doesn't gain you a whole lot on the 2.2 but it does free up a couple ponies. Go with a 2.25" mandrel bent exhaust with a long resonator and a good flowing chambered muffler. If you intend to stay naturally aspirated and not too crazy, a good purchase would be an exhaust header and downpipe off one of the 2.0l supercharged cobalts. K&N is probably the best short ram intake available, also an intake manifold off a 2.4l cobalt will shift a couple ponies around and give you a nice flowing top end while not killing low end performance.

Beyond that you could drop the supercharger off the 2.0l to pull in a considerable amount of horses, it's a bit more involved but can be had pretty cheap if you keep an eur on the classifieds around here.
