Hey everyone, new to the forum.

I got a 2007 Chevy Cobalt with 75 000km (47 000 miles) and I went to start the car today and it would not turn over. The lights came on inside and out like it would normally do in acc position but when I went to start the engine it wouldn't turn over. There was also no sound when I went to start the engine. After 5 min it finally started up. Any ideas? Thanks!

I was in Boston. Mine did that a few times. Sometimes letting the battery work just lighting the headlights for a short time could warm the battery. Then the warmer battery could start the engine.

When you actually tried to crank the engine did the lights Stay on? They could shut off to put all the current into the starter. Or they could Dim with the effort.

I just bought an interesting gizmo. A Digital Volt Meter, DVM that plugs into the Lighter socket. Tells you your battery Voltage on the FLY. Might tell you that the battery is Low, or no voltage change could say that the Starter is not even trying. It will also tell you if the Alternator is giving enough voltage to charge the battery.

Clean the cable contacts.

The Volt Meter. I found it at the local Walmart. EverStart. True Digital, not a series of diodes.

I just put Star Washers in the Ground Connections. Scrapes the paint away and makes a better electrical connection. Added some Electrical Paste to prevent corrosion.
