The contacts for the buttons could be bad, I picked up a whole new case and buttons for $18 on eBay and swapped over my board. They do sell just the buttons for a couple bucks less but I needed a case too. Works like a charm now.

You can test if it's the buttons by pulling the remote open and using one of the other button's carbon pads to activate the unlock function. Paperclip works too.

This is what I bought. http://pages.ebay.com/motors/link/?nav=item.view&id=121179916606

The other known issue is the battery clip comes off the board, soldering it back fixes it permanently.

Another way to fix keyless remote.

I know this is a little late, but I wanted to reply to this so someone else might find useful. I found this fix several months ago and haven't been able to find it again. If you have remote that just stops working you can go to the fuse box next to the passenger seat and remove the radio and ECM fuse which are 23 and 25, then replace them and the remotes will start working again. I had read that random button pushing of the remotes can cause them to stop working, not sure if that's true. This is the second time my remote just stopped working and my spare did not work either. I went back trying to find the site I found this fix and couldn't find it. So I just looked the which would be the most likely and I new the radio was one because you have reset your radio settings after it is done. Also there is a Youtube video that shows you how to program another remote. Have the remote to program with you in the car, hold the unlock button and then turn ignition key on and off twice then back on. Let go of the door lock and hold both lock and unlock buttons on the remote until it locks, and now it is programmed. I haven't tried it, but maybe it will save somebody from going to the dealers or locksmith.

This is the first I've heard about being able to field program a fob for these cars. I'll give it a try when I get home, I have a spare that's not programmed.

Could you read over those instructions again and clarify which button is to be held? You say unlock before key, but then day to release lock after, confusing.

Let us know if it works, I'll get an extra fob for my (Katies) 2010 if it does. I did try it after reconnecting the battery the day it started, car responded, but don't know if that's why it started after 3 weeks of not moving.
