I have a 2006 Cobalt. Drivers side tail light does not work. Turn signal works, brake light works, bulb is good. Put in new pigtail, same problem. Passenger side is fine. Traced wires through trunk to back seat, no noticable problems. Recently had heater core replaced. Could it be a loose wire under dash due to removal of dash when replacing heater core? Looking for help troubleshooting this to avoid going to dealer. Thanks

Could be. You already replaced the lightbulb socket right? Determined there isn't power there?

yes, bulb is good no power to the socket or connector.

The body control module is locating under the radio, the wiring goes from there to the rear, my best guess is that who ever removed the dash, let it rest on the wiring, since it's heavy. There are also some ground wires that have to come off to remove the heater box from the dash. I would remove the plastic covers, and maybe the center console and look for some pinched wires.
