Cobalt DTC and T/C issues

2007 2.2 I think. It sets a P0301 cyl1 misfire code, then shortly after, the T/C warning comes on and the car begins to shift roughly.Then it b.egins to idle rough ABS code C0561, generic, Definition not available code is set. If I delete the ABS code it smooths out momentarily but code comes right back. I'm going to pull it in the driveway later this week to have a close look at it but the misfire/ABS code tie in has me scratching my head. I've done searches using different parameters and couldn't find anything. Anything in particular I should look for?

Bad news on that C0561. The GM service manual says:

DTC C0561 71: System Disabled Information Stored
This DTC is for information only. As an aid to the technician, this DTC indicates that there are no problems in the ABS/TCS. The ECM should be checked for a possible fault.

I'd start by making sure you have brake fluid and check all your wheel speed sensors to make sure they're connected.

The P0301 is obviously just a misfire. You can try playing musical spark plugs, plug coils, and injectors to see if it moves with part of it.

Let us know if anything comes up.

Yeah, I was concerned with that that one. Especially since it could explain the connection between the rough trans, poor idle and TC error light.

Now, another question. I'd like to check the connections and grounds to the ECM. If I unplug it to check the connector, it shoudn't lose it's pairing to the BCM,should it?

No it will be fine. If that were the case you'd need to worry about replacing the battery everytime it died.

So far, I've replaced the #1 coil, (new plugs while I was there)Compression check too. 150-160 across the board,first bump was to around 100 on all cyls if I remember correctly. I don't have a leakdown tester,something to add to the list. Removed and cleaned the injectors,swapped the #1 and #3 injectors, Checked the signal to the injectors with my noid set. Swapped out the ECM with a remanufactured one that I was promised would not have to have the crankshaft variation cal done with. Surprise, surprise. He lied. Still setting the same ABS code but now can't read misfires, which it is still doing. Reinstall original ECM. Still getting P0301 and c0561 codes and now to make it even more interesting, the doors randomly unlock themselves, even with the battery out of the remote.I'm going to jack the car up and do a close inspection of all the ABS sensors this afternoon but the questions I have are
Is it even possible for the ABS computer to affect the running of the engine, other than "reduced power mode" which I assume would knock back timing and /or scroll through the cylinder deactivation as opposed to setting a single cylinder misfire
Is the Computer above and behind the ECM for the ABS, or is it the BCM.
Has anyone ran into weak or broken valve springs on these motors as a reason for a misfire?
