I'm planning on wiring up my Nexus7 in lieu of the stock head unit in my 09 SS/TC. Figured I'd start a thread on this project as I've been turning over in my head for a year or so, hoping emperor will stop in with some suggestions.

I know I'm going to need a harness and amp to replace the headunit, thinking something like 4x50w that I can stash inside the dash.
Ran across this guy, would cut down my wiring since it's Bluetooth.
Kenwood KAC-M1824BT 180W RMS Compact Bluetooth 4-Channel Class D Amplifier

My other idea was to go with a DAC for the output out of the tablet, haven't checked on output wattage. Might be able to replace the amp entirely or get a cheaper amp that doesn't have Bluetooth.

I'll be using the GMOS-LAN-04 to retain stock function. Axxess GMOS-LAN-04 Wiring Interface Connect a new car stereo and retain OnStar®, safety warning chimes, and factory amplifier in select 2006-up GM vehicles at Crutchfield.com

Mounting I'm starting to think that getting something 3D printed might be really easy if I can get ahold of a 3D scanner for the mounts.

Thank you for your input here and on CSS Emp. Soon as I can convince the wife to let me get the harness I'll get started on it.

Making progress. Picked up a GMOS-LAN-04 for cheap last weekend and ordered a USB OTG charge cable last night. Hoping I can start bench testing soon. I have a DAC, Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi HD. Hoping I can find a build that has the driver for it

From my CSS outbox so I can remember it.
I'm trying to plan out my Nexus7 install in my 09 SS/TC. You wouldn't happen to know which Joycon box we need or what wattage amp I should get to power the Pioneers setup, I figure it'll be less than 4x50w RMS simply for size and no real need for anything heavier since I'll still be using the stock amp setup.

This is basically what I'm looking at doing, still have to figure out mounting the tablet in the dash. The Joycon unit should plug into the hub no problem.

Installed ElementalX kernel and got my OTG cable today.

Turns out both my Creative Sound Blaster X-fi HD and Turtle Beach Audio Advantage Micro II USB both work without writing drivers!

So next up is checking the GMOS-LAN-04 to make sure it works the way I want without amplification.

So some progress today, tested the GMOS-LAN-04>USB DAC>Nexus 7 2013 setup today. Works like a charm except I think something is wrong with the harness. All channels have varying buzzing caused by the ground plug and the left two channels are distorted, left rear sounds blown when hooked up through the harness but stock stereo it works fine.
