Hey there. So I just found a cobalt on CL that's being parted out
I drive the cobalt LS and was wondering If I can take the SS Instrument cluster and plug it into the my LS. I'm only considering this because I want the Red dash instead of the wonderful Chevy light green and because it would look pretty cool compared to just replacing the lights.

Another question. Would the odometer read the 77k i am at now or would it read the mileage of the car I am getting it from.

Also, if ya'll would be so kind to tell me what else you can see going wrong with this even if it fits. Thank you!

Correction: I guess the dash itself doesn't light up red but I would still like the design of the SS Instrument cluster better. Thank you

What else should I cop from this totaled SS? Im tempted to go for the exhaust if that works.

The instrument cluster is a straight swap and is PnP.

That's an SS/NA auto. The block is an LE5 2.4L, better than the L61 but not the LAP and is not a direct swap.

Intake manifold is worth grabbing if you have an 05-08 LS, it flows better.
Exhaust manifold and the rest of the exhaust.
Brakes are disks on the rear, might be worth it if you want them, you will need to take the entire rear swingarm.
Brake master cyl and front brakes are nicer.
Front swaybar and front and rear suspension is better than your LS.
Front bumper has foglights and the switch in the dash. Those should be nearly plug and play, might have to change up your fuse box a little.
Might have a hood blanket if you want that, trunk lid carpet piece.
Dome light might be a better one with map light buttons.

I'm sure there's more that I'm forgetting.

Horrible news.

As my bad luck may have it I was just wrecked last Sunday the 9th. Chick blew thru a red light while I was barely starting my left turn and hit me head on at about 55 mph. I'm good but the LS is LOST

But this will not be the end of my cobalt endevors. I hope to one day own a newer SSTC.

Anyone got one for sale in IL? Close to Naperville

Interesting story . I just joined this forum to ask a question about a Cobalt I picked up this weekend. It's a Canadian vehicle and I want to swap in an American cluster. I found a cluster on craigslist at a junk yard in Pontiac Michigan. I would swear the red smashed vehicle in this photo looks exactly like the vehicle at the junk yard. Did your vehicle, by chance, end up in Pontiac? I plan to buy the cluster today.

@franknbrew

Not 100% sure since insurance took it. Last I know it was in lisle Illinois and that was only 3 days ago. It's at an extremely organized wreck yard due to insurance purposes I guess. If it is mine the radio should be gone and it's stick shift. Only two determining factors I can think of.
