2008 G5 ,HAD A FENDER BENDER NOW MY SEAT BELTS ARE LOCKED ..I WOULD LIKE TO TAKE THEM OUT AND REPLACE THEM WITH ONES WITHOUT IGNITERS IN THEM,,,HAS ANYONE DONE THIS OUT THERE ? AND IF SO CAN YOU TELL ME WHAT CARS WILL INTERCHANGE... TO ME ITS SILLY TO HAVE IGNITERS IN THEM WHEN THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE OLDER RETRACTABLE STYLE :)

While I'm sure that's possible, I have no idea how or why you would want to do this. You would be lessening the safety that is build into the belts which are slowing your impact with things like the airbag and steering wheel. If your lap or shoulder belt is loose you will move that much further in a crash. Are you planning on getting in a lot more accidents which might cause your igniters to lock the belts?

I can't say that I recommend your approach to this problem.

I know this is old but it was just bumped. Crazy to take out the igniters. Did you ever do it?
