Okay so i'm new here just looking for some input. I have a 2010 Cobalt Lt sedan and i want to make more power. i considered selling it and buying an SS but i am upside down on the loan and i do not want to pay more insurance for the sport model. I also considered bolt ons like an intake headers and exhaust but the power it will gain isn't enough for me. So i'm down to three options, Supercharge/ turbocharge on a tune running low boost and hope my engine doesn't blow up. Build the engine (pistons, rods, head work retainers, cams and cam lobes) and tune it to run a good amount of boost, or swap my engine for an SS engine. I am not sure if the engine swap would be a direct swap and if i would have to tranny swap as well. also i am thinking i could go faster with my 2.2 if i build it than if i swap a 2.0 and build that. I realize either way is going to be expensive and it isn't going to be ridiculously fast however i just want my car to be unique and put me back in my seat when i pull.

Thanks guys

Engine swap is only viable if you do the entire motor, transmission, wire loom, ECU, etc. Otherwise nothing lines up or works together.

Dropping an SC on that motor is the easiest way to make more power.

If is as you after reading your post Dow hat I'm planning to do. I've got 2 cobalts a 2010 SS LNF new to me last November AND A 2006 LS manual which is my DD/winter car. My SS will keep simple upgrades like the stage upgrade and maybe a few little things but my 2k6 LS once I get a new winter car will build up a LSJ and turbo it. The LSJ will get better #'s and easier to tune not being direct injection and all. I'm looking to do a duel stage injection with my build.

My vote for your build is do a built LSJ and all. If you need the gm recipe book let me know and I'll send it to you to help with your build.
