I've got a 2008 cobalt and I'm kind of stumped. I was getting vibrations around 50 mph, and they got really bad if I hit the brakes. So thinking it was warped rotors is replaced them and had the tires balanced. That helped but still wasn't gone. So I replaced the front hubs, didn't improve anything.

I've done the left and right/push pull check on the tie rods and there is zero movement.

Any ideas on what to do next?

You bought all new rotors? And had the wheels rebalanced?

Ain't much else that can cause that sort of problem. Unless you've got flatspots in the tires.

Any more symptoms, can you be more specific?

No, this is a common problem with these cars. We all replace brakes, rotors, tires, rotate tires before we ever come looking here. There are serious suspension problems with these cars that GM wont address. The funny thing is that this problem can be completely intermittent.

If the car shakes does it also try and walk across the road as in you hit a bump in the road and it wants to pull left or right if so check your sway bar links and your inner and outer tie rods sway bar links will cause it to walk like you have low tires pressure inner and outer tie rods will make it also shake from the vibration if there wore out
