    Craziest thing..

An amp should never backfeed into a remote wire period, if it does then its got internal failure. Futher to that the remote wire should be wired to the deck not a fuse block unless there is a reason for it. Using a proper fuse tap like bussman's BP/HHH is the safest and best means of tapping...

    Electrical help

2 options, make a bigger holder or get a battery that matches the factory size. A simple piece of sheet metal cut to size and bolted to the old holder will work or a sheet of 1/4" plywood if you want to farmer fix it.

Need help installing a headunit in an 08 cobalt

long since done my friend, he had a bad amp not a wiring issue at all. The amp was an old 1 and turned out that it had some internal corrosion which caused the fault. As for deck spacing I solved that with a reroute of the wiring to run it over the top of the bar at the back side. Appreciate the...

I got all the wiring and stuff I needed for my last swap for 80 bucks but mind you that was an older cavalier. Universal kits from my experience usually needed a little more work but maybe they have improved since then.

Yeah find a cobalt in a scrap yard and pull the door skins, switches, wiring, motors and tracks and then insatll in your car. You will need to check the connector on your door to body , the molex connector, see if it has all the wires on the inside one at the body if it does then its plug and...

    Electrical help

I was pretty clear as to why caps are a paperweight for sound systems that have a high "CONSTANT" draw. Do your research on it and you will see why they are useless for any sound system that has a high constant draw on the system. Look at guys who do sub competitions not 1 has a capacitor...

    Electrical help

the wire that connects the battery to the chassis, make a bigger one and attach it to the chassis and the ground same for the engine to chassis ground. You want to aim for less than a 1/2 ohm or resistance from the chassis to the battery and the less resistance the better so the bigger the wire...

Favorite Car Audio Myths Here's a list of my favorite car audio myths in no particular order. 1. Amplifiers should be grounded at the battery Generally the battery is the worst place to ground an amplifier. The battery is where all of the electrical noise from the vehicle's various parts...

    Need help installing an amp

trust me wiring is 1 thing you want done right the first time around, I have been around long enough to see what happens when people cut corners with it and the consequences can be pretty bad. Most decks come with 4 to 6 preouts these days, 1 for sub and 4 for speakers or 2 for subs and 1 for...

    Need help installing an amp

To run the amp for 4 speakers you need at least 2 rca inputs, 1 left and 1 right from the deck to the amp unless you use a line output converter to provide rca outputs for the amp or use the high level inputs to the amp. Easiest and most cost effective is a set of rcas from the deck to the amp...

Flowmaster 60 series would give you a nicer sounding exhaust without being ricey and some nice deeper exhaust notes. Upgrade these 3 if your lights are dimming on you with higher drawing sound systems. Here is the list; Battery to chassis ground Engine ground Alternator to battery wiring Now...

    Electrical help

Capacitors are really not that effective for helping with a constant drain on the system, they do help maintain a constant voltage at the amp for short bursts but with high draw situations the cap becomes an effective paperweight. Upgrade the factory ground, the engine ground, then the battery...

Need help installing a headunit in an 08 cobalt

So an added update I installed the speakers and his amp did not send out anything to the speakers, I bench tested it and the amp was dead in the water for outputs. So we got another 1 and put in and once I had hooked up all the wires it did not turn on at all, bench tested that and the amp did...

Audio guys- Help me install my new amp!!

I am not saying that mounting to the box is ideal what I am saying is that any box thats designed halfways decent (made of 3/4" mdf with stiffeners) will not damage an amp. Put your hand on a decently designed box while its pumping, see how much vibration you feel from the wood. Unless there is...

Audio guys- Help me install my new amp!!

The wood does not flex, mdf wood absorbs vibrations which makes it a good candidate for sub boxes, mounting to the the box is fine I usually try to give an amp about 1 to 2 inches of minimum of clearance to allow it some airflow for cooling purposes, same for when I screw it to the box, I use...

manual door removal Ok I found that little clip I was looking for on the manual window crank, man they really tucked that into the handle there, I am used to seeing it much further away from the flared part of the crank. Need help installing a headunit in an 08 cobalt

ok I took it apart in hopes of finding an issue and I noticed that it was not the gmos-lan-03 adapter but a pac adapter the c2r-gm11 adapter, so I used a buss add a fuse and ran a wire from the fuse panel to the deck for ign acc wire. The wiring diagram for it had a wire for ign acc but it was 1...

Ok so I installed the amps, gotta love that batttery in the trunk, made life much easier for me there, removed the dash parts to get the factory unit out and man it was not fun making the aftermarket deck fit in there, once I got the dash kit in there and wired in the fancy harness and antenna...

from what I can tell from my research so far you don't loose the turn signals with the deck removed or cheapo harness just the door chimes and onstar capability which he does not have anyhow.
