    sway bar bushings, end links, control arm bushings, ball joint. without being there and seeing it/feeling it, it's really hard to tell. these cars are known for noises.

    my guess is it's one of your cam actuators/sensors. replace the sensor first, see if that does anything. if it doesn't, the cam actuator might be a costly repair if you don't know how to time these engines. you, being an xfe, have vvt. all 2.2 lap's have it i believe

    it's your variable valve timing. i don't know much about it because i've never experienced it. but that's the only thing it could be. the reason you have no power is because your ECU is retarding the timing to save the engine from detonating. if they couldn't figure that out, they're idiots...

    I don't feel like reading through everything but I would check your battery cables. The ground cable on the front side of the engine and mounts to the frame.     yes, and you don't have it. the option is irrelevant anyhow. doesn't add or subtract power. it's just an emissions thing. if you don't have it, which you don't, you don't have to worry about buying certain mods/some replacement parts though.

    umm there is no LAF 2.2 for cobalts... it was LAP and l61. he has an l61. that is SAI, if you don't have it, then you don't have SAI

    secondary air injection. you will have 2 tubes coming out of your intake. the one that hooks to the valve cover and another to a black box on the left side of your engine. if you don't have the one on the side of your engine, then you don't have SAI

    ecotecs are timing chains, there's two of them. one is on the balance shafts and the water pump sprocket. the other is on the cams. you won't see an increase with premium fuel because it's not tuned for it.
