Intake Mod for 2.2L Cobalts with pictures!!

i already have a k&n cai in. is it worth the time to still take out the silencer? also since i installed my cold air and exhaust my dash is saying ive lost gas mileage, about 4mpg. can anyone help me out as to why? thanks

ive been told that i shouldnt use optima bc cobalt needs a special battery due to trunk placement, that the optima can overheat and blow??
