Bought my daughter a 2005 Cobalt LS 2.2l auto for Xmas! The first day she had it the temp was pushing 215 degrees. I told her to turn it off and I looked under the hood and the cooling fans were not working. I checked the fuse/relay box and the relay (red arrow) labeled "COOL SER/PAR" is missing. Do I need this relay to make the cooling fans work?

I see you got a response on yourcobalt already. From what I can find that relay is only used on the LSJ 2.0 Supercharged.

Per the user manual on page 5-96 that relay is only in use for the SS trim level.

215*F isn't terrible for these cars, normal for bumper to bumper. You could do a system drain and fill if you wanted to be sure. Just make sure you get all the air out of the lines.
