So I've been wanting to install a new head unit into my car for quite some time. Problem is I don't know what I would need, an actual interface or if I could just get a wire harness and everything would work. I have the upgraded pioneer system in an 06 Cobalt lt. Any ideas or suggestions?

Have you checked somewhere like Crutchfield Audio or the interface manufacturer websites? They usually list what interface you need.

Usually that indicates a bad ground on the amp or stereo. Could also be RCAs running too close to power wires too.
