Because my 2007 Cobalt LT Coupe engine light went on I decided to check the Purge Valve Solenoid. Before pulling off the 2 hoses connected to the solenoid I noticed what looked like a cracked rubber piece at the end of the hose going to the main harness. I had to tear this piece off to disconnect the hose so I could remove the valve. After the test I plugged both hoses back in and found the hose where the cracked rubber piece had been seemed to hold quite snugly without it so I plugged it in as it was. Later the cause of the engine light being on was something else. A month later the engine light came back on. I am wondering if the hose connection where the cracked rubber piece had been could be leaking now. If so, is there a part number for the missing piece so I can replace it? If not, is there a way to substitute something to replace it - like plain old rubber cement around the hose where it plugs in?
