Amp power wire hookup spot?

Hi everyone just joining this forum. I recently trade my 01 grand cherokee laredo 4.7 v8 to get something more fuel efficient which was my 05 cobalt ls.

Now my question is can i hook up my amp power wire to the positive post to the battery in the trunk or should i connect it to the positive post in the engine bay and run the wire through the firewall all the way to amp in the trunk?

Im thinking the battery is fine but since im new on the cobalt scene i thought id ask the "pros" lol

Also where is a good place to ground the amp?

Hook it up straight to the battery, fused of course. And ground to a bolt in the trunk somewhere.
