I've been reading a lot about doing valve jobs and head removal, timing all that jazz. What I cannot find is what is all the parts/tools I may need.

Is there any special tools?
My parts list so far includes: Head Gasket Set, Timing Cover Gasket, Timing Chain, Head Bolts, Coolant, Oil.

I'm having a low compression in cylinder 1 thinking its valve related. Doing leak down Wednesday to confirm not the cylinder. I plan to pull the head take it to a machine shop to clean it up perform the valve job replace all seals and metal parts as needed. I will then reassemble of course.

Is there something else I'm missing as far as parts I should change while doing this or special tools I should acquire? I'm going to be ordering the head gasket set tonight because they need the seals for when they do the valve job.

thanks,

also I was thinking about having a Haynes or Chilton manual handy for torque specs and reassembly just in case. Do you suggest one or the other?
