So I swapped out my rear ground force springs with progress rears cuz i wasn't into the rake. Thought I'd make a how to. I apologize in advance for the blurry pictures. this camera's tough to use in the dark.

:doublepuke:

what you will need:
DSC_0328.jpg

19mm deep well for wheels, 18mm shallow for shock bolts, impact gun or 1/2" drive ratchet with a breaker bar, jack, jack stands
not pictured but optional: torque wrench, pry bar, 12" 1/2" extension

DSC_0329.jpg

put the car in 2nd or reverse. jack up the rear by the cross beam on the solid rear in the middle. both wheels will lift off the ground. remove your wheels with your 19mm deep well before lowering the jack but position your jack stands along the pinch weld. you want the suspension unsprung.

DSC_0330.jpg

remove the wheels and lower the car onto the jack stands

DSC_0333.jpg

you will see this.

DSC_0335.jpg

you are now going to remove the top shock bolt with your 18mm shallow socket.

DSC_0338.jpg

push down on the caliper. give it a good shove and the springs will free from the top perches.

DSC_0339.jpg

feel free to remove your springs.

DSC_0340.jpg

You can come up with your own method for this, but I found using a pry bar against the bottom coil perch is a good method of getting the pesky thing undone.

DSC_0347.jpg

keep shimmying, it'll come out.

DSC_0342.jpg

same with the bump stop. like my work shoes?

DSC_0346.jpg

now put them in your new springs and push like a woman in labor

make sure you read your spring manufacturer's manual to figure out which side of the spring is up. the bump stop goes in the top.

DSC_0349.jpg

position the bottom of the spring in the perch.

DSC_0350.jpg

now get the top in there. the other side will be a pain because the opposite spring will want to pop out as you install it, so find a medium where both springs will stay positioned.

DSC_0353.jpg

should look like this

DSC_0354.jpg

jack the cross beam up. the sprung suspension will lift without the car.

DSC_0355.jpg

line that sucker up so you can get the bolt back in.

DSC_0360.jpg

almost there

DSC_0367.jpg

what do we do here?

DSC_0369.jpg

halt! hemmerzeit! lightly tap the shock into position.

DSC_0365.jpg

start the bolt off by hand

DSC_0385.jpg

couldn't find the darn torque specs for that bolt, but 100 ft/lbs sounds good to me.

DSC_0387.jpg

you know what to do.

DSC_0392.jpg

throw your wheels back on and lower the car. wheel torque specs are also 100 ft/lbs

done-zo
new springs take about a week to fully settle.

Sweet how to man, have heard however that jacking your car by the torsion beam (that cross beam) can cause it to bend and/or warp, thus having an effect on the balance of your car.

i can see where you're coming from. i haven't had any alignment issues and i do alignments often since it's free and i do them myself. I should add if you want to avoid this risk, jack it up from either side at a time from the pinch welds just to be safe. feel free to chime in at any time.

i found it easier to undo the bottom bolt of the shock not the top :p

just saying

i did the same thing. by removing the botom bolt you might be able to leave the tire on.

ff_drift_lol have you had a problem with the springs popping off the pads when you jack the car up? my progress springs do

Top bolt - 66 lb/ft

Bottom bolt - 81 lb/ft

Be careful when re-installing the lower shock bolt, it's fairly easy to cross thread if there are any loads.

Also, it is not recommended to use the pinch seam for anytheing except the stock jack. it's do-able, but i don't recommend it. Also, if you are using the rear TWB for a jack point, use a 2by4 to spread the weight evenly across both edges of the beam.

Images uploading. Otherwise, good how to. Also, i use an old cross-tip screwdriver to align the top shock if i have removed the bolt.
