install head unit 08 chevy cobalt

com somone help me i have an 08 chevy cobalt and i want to change my stereo to a kenwood indash single din but i was told i need a special wirring harness. is this true ? if i i dont care about the chime can i just use a normal harness or will that cause other problems i have non onstar. somone please help

u can use a regular harness metra 70-2104

i went to a car audio place and there telling me that other things on my car will stop working and the engine light eventually will go on ? why would he say that ? if its juss the clicking noises and chimes

because for our cars its not very clear on what u can and cant do. trust me i used to work at a shop...

when all the info ur given tells you that u have to have the expensive harness then that's what u will relay to the customer. the only way u would know different is if u try it and in most shops concern its not worth it at all... and to be honest ya if u install the cheap harness wrong u can **** some shit up.
