Interior ceiling Light LED

I recently replaced my interior light with an LED light pad. I direct wired this LED pad directly to the hookup bypassing the Replacement adapter. now part of the LED pad stays on all the time even after adding a 1k/1olm resistor, the only thing that changed was how bright the pad was, now the lights are dim even when full power is added. Can anyone step me through what i should have done.

That's normal for LED replacement lighting.

ive herd adding a diode works but never tried it myself
