Loud Noise, no get up and go

I have a 2008 Chevy Cobalt. It has been driving FINE. I started it after work today and there is a loud noise to me that almost sounds like a car with no muffler it's so loud. Also, it drives but has no get up and go. Like it barely drives. I drove it very slow on the way home and plan to drive it very slow to the repair shop in the morning. BUT I wonder if I should drive it or get it towed?
