My LS has a traction control button.When pushed T/C lights up on instrument panel.Does that mean the T/C is on or off?

Most GM cars turn off the TC when you push the button, When you restart the car, the TC turns back on by default.

Hard to believe an LS has TC, I thought you had to go to LT2 to get ABS & TC. My 09 LS and 10 LT has neither.
