My 08 Cobalt LT has about 85k miles on her, is it necessary to change the fluid? I've heard it wasn't necessary since it's a sealed system? No puns please lol...

Auto or manual? No fluid is a "lifetime" fluid, including coolant. I've done my manual twice in 80k because it really smooths it out and I knew there were a bunch of metal bits sitting in the bottom from me rushing shifts.

Automatic on the other hand you should leave unless it's acting funny, slow shifts, not engaging that sort of stuff.

Well shit I asked this days ago. Thanks yello. Yah it's a atx. Still shifts great. On the other hand the cel light has been on since around 45k and the dash always tells me to check the gas cap, have replaced numerous times. Got the codes read several times and all it says is there's is a evap leak. When I get gas, it's a little rough getting the car to start and once started, will miss for a few seconds then clear up and run smoothly. It's been frustrating!
