I have an 06 Cobalt 2.2 with 95k on it. I started having issues a few months ago. On a hard pull uphill and when merging onto the highway the transmission slips for one to two seconds and then works fine. At times it may only do this once or twice during a 100 mile trip. At first i thought i may have an engine - fuel issue. after a few weeks I noticed the tach would increase in RPM's so then I knew it was the transmission. The engine light has not come on. I took it to a garage and they suggested having the fluid changed. Since the fluid change it slips less frequently but still slips from time to time. Is this something that can be fixed without rebuilding the entire transmission? thanks for your help!
