Hey Guys, Currently I have 132,000+ Miles on my 2009 Cobalt Trying to maximize the life of the vehicle, I have seen vehicles, both GM and others...with 300k+ and taking owners words for it...Factory Powertrain still intact and running fine...
I bought this car USED with 36,000 miles on it and have had no problems so far* but assume that no major upkeep was done except fluids and tires in its previous life as a rental vehicle.
I'm probably gonna leave out some detail sure to make me look like an idiot so bear with me...Leaving Stuff like Tires, Brakes, Rotors, Wiperblades and Gas off the list not necessarily worried about accessories.
I change my oil regularly myself, every 15k
Spark Plugs were changed at 100k
Last Transmission Service was at 120k
last Coolant change was around 100k
K&N Drop In Cleaned or at least checked every 25k
Regular Fuel Treatments / TB Cleaning
to my knowledge serpentine belt has never been replaced (almost 100k with me)
Fuel Filter was last changed at 50k
What sort of things on the front end might need work or inspection? There is no power steering pump as I learned when the fuse blew...lmao...
Again if I left out something huge I probably just forgot to list it (I hope) but I want to make sure I keep everything in good shape. Is there a "certain death" mileage on cobalts?
