battery indicator lite

Hi, my name is Frankie and I own a 07 cobalt ls sedan. We have had 53,000 uneventful miles until last week when the electrical system indicator lite started flickering, along with the chimes.
This is not a steady lite mind you....never more than 10 seconds or so. The battery is 3 months old and holds a good charge and all connections are tight, any ideas?
Any electrical problems with cobalts that I should be aware of?

Check your fuse box, could be a loose fuse. other then that i havent heard of any major electrical probs with the 07's

Thanks guys, I will go through the under hood connections and check for looseness and corrosion, etc. No ZZZAAPPP noises to go with the chimes either:hahano:Will update soonest, man, I don't want to be a parts changer that gets expensive!

Yeah, the parts changer "mechanics" are worthless lol please dont be :lol: but really you should be able to find a lose connection somewhere. To me it sounds like your alternator pos or neg cable.

Also check your battery connections, negative and positive.

this is the first i hear about this happening on cobalts...do you live in an area where cars corrode alot? if so def check all connections to the charging system...alternator and such. if they are not loose...take them off anyway and do some cleaning with a wire brush and some corrosive preventive cleaner

One quick check would be to buy a Battery Voltage Minder that plugs into the 12 power plug. Will monitor the voltage, standing, starting and driving. Quick check on what the Charging system is doing. Fan belt could be slipping. I have found that the Charge voltage to be 15 volts when first running. This will cause the battery to GAS, or the water in the battery to break down, and on a sealed battery, will kill it.

When you do find the problem, please post it. Like to know what sort of things you can fine.

first off, this was posted almost 2 1/2 years ago, so they probably figured out the problem. second, there's no fan belt on these cars. they're electronically controlled. third, it would've potentially been the alternator or as stated, just my 2 cents
