    How to install voltmeter

wiring You can use a bussman bp/hhh fuse tap for a plug and play setup for the switched power off the fuse panel inside the car, saves you the hassle of stripping factory wiring for that purpose, I also strongly suggest soldering the wires and shrink tubing them or covering it with some liquid...

Cobalt lt pioneer stereo, i want to add a new head until...help

the cheap harness has all the wires except for the ign or keyed power if you wanted it to work all you needed to do was run the ign power wire on the deck (red wire) to a keyed power fuse in the fuse panel using a fusetap prefereably a busmann bp/hhh. The expensive one does work no doubt but...

    Stereo issues. 2009 LS

you also lose keyed power with the cheap harness, and retained accessory power use a busmann bp/hhh fusetap to fix the keyed power issue for the deck. Other than that the cheap harness works just fine.

    Battery Question

Battery Get a multimeter and check the voltage while it is running, it should be sitting around 14.2-14.4 volts at idle, if its not then your alternator is at fault, if its good then the battery connections or the battery itself is at fault. They are lead acid batteries but I would recommend...

and do you have the factory amped system in the car?

    radio

really I was told outright that it ran off canbus and needed the expensive adapter to work, interesting
  8. newfiedan

    radio

the cheap one will not work on the pioneer stock amplified sound system as it does not turn the amp on, the amp is turned on via a canbus setup and not a remote wire in the 2006 if I remember correctly.

    radio

depends on what you have for factory options, do you have onstar and the upgraded sound system or just the base stock crap in the car already. If you opt for the expensive adapters then you will retain all the factory stuff (onstar, door chimes, etc.) but if you opt for the cheaper one then you...

Front Speakers go in and out

vac leak for the vents, the wiring should lead to a vac bank under the dash that controls the vents, check there for leaks or loose vac lines, there is a 1 way check valve in a vac line in the engine bay that will provide vacuum for it. With the key on when you change vent position you should...

    dimming lights

drains well that depends on the setup you have, do you have any subs in it, or additional lighting things which could cause a higher draw at times? In a dimming light situation here are the basics to check; 1) battery condition, is it holding a charge 2) alternator output (with the battery in...

    wiring after market stereo

harness yes you will require a special harness for those and they are pricey unfortunately, you will probably need the GM13SR adapter from scoshe or the GMOS-100I from metra to wire the stereo, I think the metra one is more accurate though than the scoshe one for the wiring needed. I am going...

Front Speakers go in and out

connections you will have to check the connections in the door also is it the stock deck or an aftermarket deck? If its aftermarket then check the connections behind the deck, they may have pushed it in and its a tight squeeze in there so it may have pinched some wires.

    Questions about new system setup

terminals The box/sub combo he posted should have 1 cup either side but from the specs it looks like there is just one so in that respect emperorjj1 is correct in saying that wiring one amp to power both subs would not work well. Whether or not the subs are run in parallel in the box or outside...

    Questions about new system setup

I do not profess to know it all but I am pretty knowledgeable. thx for the vote of confidence cobalt123 lol. As an added fyi the factory battery in the trunk is a lead acid battery you would get much more life from a gel cell battery instead and upgrade the chassis ground while your at it. If...

factory Pioneer Amp fuse keeps blowing? Solved in post #6!

good Excellent find so I suggest we sticky that for future cobalt owners to go in there and check that out as a preventative measure.

    Questions about new system setup

to run subs you should be running 1 amp for 2 subs or 1 sub, its not a good idea to run more than 2 off 1 amp since it drops the resistance and increases the ampage draw, think of resistance and current as a teeter totter effect, one goes down the other goes up. So if you run 2 amps powering 2...

factory Pioneer Amp fuse keeps blowing? Solved in post #6!

amp emperorjj1 the amp could very well be blown too He removed the amp and it still blew the fuse, so that is not the problem. Now with that said I would be looking at where the seats fold down. along the door sill areas and the like, basically anywhere that there are moving parts and...

factory Pioneer Amp fuse keeps blowing? Solved in post #6!

tracing you will need to find out if there is any other devices on that fuse but you have a dead short to ground for sure, I would be checking the wiring for the amp, trace it along the path and see if there are any places where the wiring has been rubbed or broken through. Short of that you...

WTB Amp, Sub(s), new HU, speakers.

Bang for the buck is jvc, I was not to impressed with the older stuff but their newer stuff has been working really well for many of the installs I have done.
