Hello

Now, My 09 LT is loosing coolant...it is not leaking out like it did when the heater core went out.

I filled the coolant tank and 7 days later it was nearly empty....letting it idle for about 2 minutes the temp went to 230 degree

I'm getting ready to take it to the shop for some routine stuff next week.

Always something it seems :fragend005:

Any ideas what it could be and what to check first?

Has the system been cleared of air already? Are you seeing coolant on the ground?

Nothing on the ground and nothing under the car either

I have not changed the oil yet to see if any coolant made its way in there

I had the heater core replaced last summer since it had a crack and was leaking like a river

Might be worth having a look at your new heater core to make sure there aren't any new leaks. Hard to notice the angel one the core dumps on the floor.

Change the oil to check that.

Did you purge the coolant system when the core was replaced?

How many times since it was replaced have you found the tank empty?

Thanks

Oil will be changed Saturday

Everything was flushed and purged when the new heater core was installed

This is the 2nd time it has been empty....1st time was about 7 days ago, 2nd time was about 2 hours ago

That is worrisome, the coolant is going somewhere. You're sure it's not draining out the bottom, maybe while hot and driving?

story time! :D
i had a truck that would start seeping a few minutes after the thermostat would open. as the lower (iirc) return line got warm, a pinhole would appearantly oppen up & shoot a fine stream onto the ground...

easy fix after we found it lol

Trussell,

Please keep us updated on what the dealer finds. Hopefully it's nothing major. Feel free to pm if have any questions regarding warranty coverage or need to schedule an appointment at your dealership.

Thanks everyone

I hoping it just a small pin hole leak in the line....I have a Jeep that had the same issue...ended up being a small leak that would evaporate before it hit the ground

She is parked now and goes to the shop next Wednesday....there goes the tax check :emotions122:

Its an 09 with close to 150,000 miles...when something goes its been pretty $$$
